Owner Lindsay Ross says: According to Gene Winfield, this '59 Continental Mark IV was left on his lot, at 8201 Sierra Hwy, Mojave, CA, by the late USAF Colonel who headed the Air Force Research Laboratory at Edwards AFB. He had been responsible for allowing an auto racing event on Rogers Dry Lake, in commemoration of its historic pre-USAF use for that purpose. Photographs show the car intact. A sketch shows a car of this type customized. A fire destroyed this car's interior and roof. The roof of a '73 Thunderbird was welded onto the car. My plan is to restore to stock condition what is left of the car, and to build a tonneau top to cover the interior space, creating a racer à la the '57 Mercury Mermaid
